In an emergency response showcasing efficiency and preparedness, Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to a kitchen fire at a commercial establishment on Sun Street in Canterbury. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, 20 December 2023, required deploying four fire engines to the scene.

Upon arrival, the fire crews, equipped with personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus, tackled the blaze using a hose reel and main jets. Their swift action and use of advanced firefighting equipment, including thermal imaging cameras, helped promptly extinguish the fire.

During the incident, three individuals at the premises were treated for suspected smoke inhalation. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported. Partner agencies, including Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb), were also on-site to provide necessary support and medical assistance.

Preliminary investigations into the cause of the fire suggest that it originated from an electrical fault and is believed to have been accidental. The quick response and effective action of the Kent Fire and Rescue Service averted potential escalation and further damage to the property.
