Hastings Man Busted for £970 Post Office Theft

A Hastings man faces court over nearly a grand stolen from the East Sussex village post office where he worked part-time.

Ian Doe, 49, of Woodlands Way, Hastings, has been hit with a court summons. He’s set to appear at Hastings Magistrates Court on 2 December. The charge? Theft of £970 in cash from the Burwash post office between 2018 and 2019.

Part-Time Worker Turns Suspect

Doe was employed as a part-time assistant at the combined post office and village shop. The shop and post office are run by the Sub-Postmaster, who brought Doe on board.

Prosecution Backed by CPS After Police Probe

The case comes after detectives from the East Sussex Investigations Team launched an inquiry. The Crown Prosecution Service authorised the charges, pushing the case forward.
