In a harrowing incident in Liverpool, Joseph Allan Smith, a 38-year-old man, has been sentenced to a nine-year prison term for the rape of a sex worker. The attack, which occurred on January 17 of the previous year, took place on waste ground in the Kensington area of the city. Smith, who previously resided on Geraint Street in Toxteth, admitted to the crime at Liverpool Crown Court.
This disturbing case underscores the vulnerability of sex workers and the severity of the violence they often face. Detective Inspector Rob Pritchard of Merseyside Police described the assault as ‘terrifying’, emphasizing that no individual, irrespective of their occupation, should be exposed to such brutality and mistreatment.
