Warning: Keyless Car Thefts Soar in Sussex

Owners of keyless entry cars, watch out! Crime gangs in Sussex are targeting these vehicles, often high-end models, stealing them straight from private driveways and public car parks.

How to Protect Your Ride

  • Keep your key fob in a Faraday bag to block electronic signals and stop thieves from hacking in.
  • Fit a steering wheel lock to make your car a much harder target.

Police Crackdown Underway

Detective Chief Inspector Karrie Bohanna, from Surrey and Sussex Operations Command, sounded the alarm: “We have seen criminals targeting keyless entry vehicles for theft and use in their criminality.”

She revealed chilling stats: “In December alone, 29 vehicles were stolen this way across Sussex, with 36 incidents reported in November.”

“Our teams are working relentlessly to disrupt these criminal groups using our roads to nab these cars,” she added.

Community Urged to Stay Alert

Detective Bohanna also urged the public to stay vigilant. “Report any suspicious activity immediately to help us tackle this rising crime wave.”

Remember: simple steps like using Faraday bags and steering wheel locks can save your car from becoming a thief’s next jackpot.
