Two More Arrested Over Tragic Death of Law Student Aya
Law student Aya, 19, was fatally struck by a stray bullet on May 17 as she walked past Quick Shine Car Wash on King Street. The bullet, fired from a passing Toyota Avensis, pierced her body and lodged in a telegraph pole nearby.
Ramadan Tragedy: Aya Was on Her Way to Buy Food
Aya was heading out to get food for her family to break their fast during Ramadan when she was hit. The shocking shooting was actually meant for Pacha Khan, the intended target.
New Charges After Review of Evidence
Last year, eight people were jailed for over 200 years combined for Aya’s murder and the attempted murder of Pacha Khan.
Now, after a fresh review and expert advice from prosecutor Nicholas Johnson QC, two more men have been charged:
- Suhayl Suleman, 37, of Shear Brow, Blackburn
- Lewis Otway, 41, of Clitheroe Road, Manchester
Both were initially questioned but released during early investigations. Suhayl Suleman was arrested in Blackburn, while Lewis Otway was taken into custody last night in Dudley, West Midlands.
Next Steps in Court
The pair are set to appear before Preston Crown Court tomorrow, Friday, January 28. The community awaits justice as the case reopens with fresh charges.
