Tragic Day on the Thames: Two Dead in Separate River Incidents
London’s River Thames witnessed heartbreak today with two fatal incidents near Westminster and Battersea. First, a man’s body was pulled from the water near Westminster Bridge after reports of a floating body came in around 2:25pm on March 29th.
Man Found Dead Near Westminster Bridge
Police swiftly recovered the man’s body close to Westminster Bridge. Authorities are working to confirm his identity and notify next of kin. A spokesperson said, “We are currently working to determine the male’s identity and inform next of kin. The circumstances will be investigated.”
Car Found Submerged in Battersea – One Dead
Earlier in the day, tragedy struck again when a vehicle was reported plunging into the Thames at Vicarage Walk, Battersea, just after midnight. Emergency services arrived swiftly after receiving reports at around 12:20am. The car, occupied by a lone individual, was recovered by 11:20am, with the occupant sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency Services Respond to Multiple Incidents
The London Ambulance Service revealed their rapid response to a related incident on Westminster Bridge Road early this morning. They sent an ambulance crew, advanced paramedic, incident response officer, and a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance. Their first medic arrived within three minutes, treating a man for chest injuries before rushing him to hospital.
