Man Gets Indefinite Hospital Order for Killing Wife in Kingswood
A 43-year-old man has been handed an indefinite hospital order after admitting to killing his wife in Kingswood last year.
Darryl Bowen Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter
Darryl Bowen, of Wedmore Close, pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility for fatally stabbing his wife, Alison Bowen, at their home in November. The sentencing took place at Bristol Crown Court on 30 May.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Monday 20 November, but sadly, 41-year-old Alison was declared dead at the scene. Darryl Bowen was arrested shortly afterwards.
Family Devastated but United
“As a family we are devastated that Alison has been killed,” Alison’s family said. “Although we cannot repair what has been done to her and to our family, we are all pulling together to help each other as we move forward.”
“What happened that day has changed our family’s world forever but our focus is now on working together to rebuild our lives.”
Police Stress Need for Care and Public Safety
Detective Inspector Neil Meade, the senior investigating officer, said: “This was a truly tragic incident and our thoughts remain with Alison’s family as they continue to process this devastating loss.”
“This outcome means Darryl Bowen will receive the medical care he needs while ensuring the public is protected.”
