Doctor Who Shocker: Time-Travel, Murder and a Mysterious Alien Bounty Hunter

The Doctor and Ruby are catapulted back to 1813, stepping into a posh party thrown by the Duchess. But the high-society bash quickly spirals into a nightmare as guests start dropping dead. Enter Rogue, a shadowy alien bounty hunter who’s about to turn the Doctor’s world upside down.

Meet Rogue: Jonathan Groff Spills the Secrets

Jonathan Groff, the actor behind Rogue, reveals how the role landed in his lap. “I got an exciting text from Russell T Davies,” says Groff. “I’m a huge fan, especially of ‘It’s A Sin’. Getting that call was thrilling. Russell just offered me the role.”

About Rogue, Groff adds: “He’s an alien bounty hunter and a man of mystery. When we first meet, he crosses paths with the Doctor during the Regency Era. But Rogue isn’t quite what he seems.”

Jumping Into the Whoniverse

Though familiar with the show’s legendary status, Groff wasn’t a die-hard fan before joining. “I’d heard of ‘Doctor Who’ but never watched it,” he admits. “Russell sent me a crash course in the Whoniverse, including the original black-and-white episodes.”

Playing Rogue wasn’t a walk in the park either. Groff says, “The challenge was nailing the show’s unique tone. ‘Doctor Who’ is grand and larger-than-life but also deeply emotional. As a guest star, I had to quickly find my place.”

On-Set Vibes and Wild Memories

Groff praises co-stars Ncuti Gatwa and Millie for their warm welcome. “They made me feel at home in the Whoniverse. Ncuti’s energy is electric – spontaneous and positive.”

Off set, Groff indulged in some starstruck downtime at Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour in Cardiff, bringing Ncuti along for the ride. “I’m a huge Beyoncé fan. Made sure I left filming early to catch the show!”

Time Travel Dream: Personal Wishes Unveiled

Asked where he’d travel in time, Groff opts for a personal moment: “I’d go back to my 10th birthday in 1995, and instead of watching ‘I Love Lucy’ on VHS, I’d spend time asking my grandfather questions.”
