Man Arrested After Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Swindon
A man has been arrested following a deadly collision with a pedestrian on Upham Road, Swindon, tonight.
Tragic Accident at Upham Road and South View Avenue
At around 5:40 PM, Wiltshire Police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian near the junction of Upham Road and South View Avenue. Sadly, the victim — a man in his 50s — was pronounced dead at the scene.
His grieving family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Driver in His 30s Held for Questioning
The driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and taken into custody for questioning. Upham Road remains closed as police conduct a full investigation.
Detective Superintendent Charlotte Tucker said: “This is a tragic incident where a man has lost his life in a collision with a vehicle. Our thoughts are with his family at this devastating time. A thorough investigation is now underway, and we have made an arrest. Expect to see an increased police presence in the area for reassurance.
