Care Worker Jailed After Sickening Sex Attacks on Seizure Patient
Benjamin Poole, 21, was slammed with six years behind bars at Chester Crown Court for sexually assaulting a vulnerable patient in his care.
Sickening Abuse Caught on Camera
Poole, from Crewe, worked as a care worker at a specialist centre looking after patients with severe conditions. In the summer of 2020, a woman in her 20s who suffered severe seizures began suspecting something was wrong during her episodes.
Fearing the worst, the woman bought an alarm clock with a hidden camera in November 2020. Within days, the covert footage revealed Poole sexually assaulting her while she was having a seizure.
The abuse was immediately reported, and Poole was swiftly arrested and charged with five sexual assaults and wilful neglect.
Detective Slams ‘Disgusting Betrayal of Trust’
“Poole held a position of trust and he was meant to care for these vulnerable patients,” said Detective Constable Amelia Stevens. “Instead, he abused that trust to satisfy his own sick desires.”
“Poole thought the victim would never remember, but thanks to her bravery, he is now facing justice. I hope his sentence brings her some closure and encourages others to speak out.”
Lifetime Ban and Sex Offenders’ Register
Alongside his prison term, Poole has been slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the sex offenders’ register for life.
