Kent Fire and Rescue Service swiftly responded to a fire incident in Maidstone, where a car caught fire inside a garage on Swanton Road, West Peckham. The emergency call, which came in at 5.12pm on Tuesday, 23 July 2024, prompted immediate action.

Three fire engines rushed to the scene, accompanied by a bulk water carrier. Firefighters, equipped with personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus, tackled the blaze using high-pressure hose reel jets to control and eventually extinguish the fire.

One individual affected by the fire was handed over to the care of paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb). Fortunately, there were no further reported injuries.

Authorities believe the cause of the fire to be accidental. The quick response and effective action of the fire service crews prevented further escalation and potential damage to surrounding properties. The community is reminded of the importance of fire safety and the need to regularly check and maintain vehicles to prevent such incidents.
