Two teenagers have appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder following the death of a man in New Cross, London. The court hearing on Thursday detailed the involvement of 19-year-old Sofian Alliche from Holborn and a 17-year-old, whose name is withheld due to legal age restrictions, in the fatal stabbing of Antonios Antoniadis earlier this month.
The incident occurred on Florence Terrace at approximately 9:20 AM on July 7, where police responded to reports of an assault. Antonios, in his late 20s, was found critically injured and subsequently rushed to hospital. Despite receiving intensive care, he succumbed to his injuries on July 21, with the autopsy confirming death due to multiple organ failure following a stab wound to the thigh.
In addition to charging Alliche and the minor, the Metropolitan Police are actively searching for a third individual, 19-year-old Joshua McCorquodale, believed to possess crucial information regarding the case. Authorities have circulated McCorquodale’s photo, urging the public to come forward with any sightings by calling 999 and referencing Operation Botany.
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who is spearheading the inquiry, expressed urgency in locating McCorquodale. We are concerned for his welfare and believe he may have sustained injuries,” Blackburn stated. She encouraged anyone with information to either contact the police directly or use the Crimestoppers anonymous service to ensure their privacy.
The two accused, Alliche and the unnamed teenager, have been remanded in custody and are scheduled for their next court appearance at the Old Bailey on Monday, July 29. The police continue their investigation, hoping to piece together the events that led to this tragic incident.
