Young Drug Dealer Nabbed at ‘Cuckooed’ Northampton Home
Mohammed Risaan, 21, from Birmingham’s Lozells, has been jailed for 35 months after police caught him dealing Class A drugs from a ‘cuckooed’ property in Northampton. The drug bust happened at Clarendon House on Bridge Street during a raid on August 17, 2023.
Police Raid Uncovers Drugs and Cash
Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team acted on tip-offs that the address was being used for drug sales. When officers broke into the property, Risaan was caught red-handed trying to flush 27 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin down the toilet.
Officers also seized a mobile phone loaded with over 100 drug marketing texts sent earlier that day, plus £385 in cash. Risaan faced charges of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and acquiring criminal property.
Sentenced at Northampton Crown Court
After pleading guilty to all charges on March 4, Risaan was sentenced on July 11. Besides the prison term, he was hit with a £228 victim surcharge. The court ordered destruction of the drugs and handed the seized cash to the Northamptonshire Community Fund to support local charities.
Police Crack Down on Drug Dealers Exploiting Vulnerable Homes
“Everyone should be able to feel safe in their own home, but Mohammed Risaan took this away from the person whose home he cuckooed,” said Sergeant Aaron Dilley of Northamptonshire Police.
He stressed the force’s dedication to fighting drug-related crime and protecting vulnerable residents from exploitation.
The police urge anyone with information about drug dealing or cuckooing to come forward. This case highlights ongoing efforts to tackle drug crime and keep communities safe.
