Man Charged After Shotgun Found in Flintham Lane Shed
A man has been hit with firearm charges following a shotgun discovery in a Nottinghamshire village.
Shotgun and Ammo Found in Screveton
On 18 October 2022, police raided a shed in Flintham Lane, Screveton. Inside, they uncovered a shotgun along with ammunition. The find sparked a swift police probe.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
On Sunday evening, 8 January 2023, officers arrested 35-year-old John Watson from Spring Lane, Flintham. He now faces charges under the Firearms Act 1968 for possessing a shotgun without a certificate. Watson appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 10 January 2023.
Police Warn: Illegal Guns Will Not Be Tolerated
“Firearms offences are extremely serious, and we will always look to take action against anyone found to be in illegal possession of a gun,” said Detective Inspector Simon Harrison of Nottinghamshire Police.
“We treat such offences extremely seriously and remain committed to taking weapons off the streets. Information is critical in this process, and I urge anyone who suspects illegal firearms activity to call 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
