Woman Jailed for Assaulting Police Officers 17 Times in Shocking Attacks
Janet Waller’s Violent Rampage
Janet Waller, 32, from Pier Road, launched a terrifying spree of violence against police over several months in 2020. Between May and September, she assaulted officers during three separate visits to her home, resulting in 17 charges to her name.
Brutal Attacks on Police Caught on Incident Dates
- On 14 May, after calling kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police for help, Waller threw keys and a mobile phone at an officer’s leg.
- Later that day, she hurled a bottle at another officer, narrowly missing them. She then continued offending while in custody.
- On 19 August, she falsely summoned police and launched seven more attacks including spitting, kicking, and throwing objects.
- Her final violent episode came on 14 September when she claimed she removed an electronic tag, then lunged and kicked multiple officers during her arrest.
Jailed for Assaults and Malicious Communications
Waller admitted all 17 charges plus additional malicious communications linked to a separate police force. Maidstone Crown Court sentenced her to one year behind bars on 6 November 2020.
Police Call for Reform
Sergeant Lauren Bowron from Kent Police said: “The assaults Waller subjected our officers to were thoroughly degrading and unprovoked. Our officers should never have to endure this.”
“We tried repeatedly to encourage her to change her ways. It’s regrettable she didn’t respond. We hope this sentence gives her the chance to reform.”
