A 34-year-old man from Newport has been sentenced to three years and three months in prison for his involvement in violent disorder in Southport. Rory Allington-Mott, of High Street, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, August 23, where he pleaded guilty to the charges
The incident, which took place on Tuesday, July 30, saw Allington-Mott actively participating in what authorities have described as “appalling scenes.” Police officers identified him through footage that captured him throwing numerous objects, including bricks, at law enforcement personnel.
Assistant Chief Constable Paul White commented on the case, stating, “The footage is shocking and shows the extreme violence that our officers faced in Southport. Many officers sustained serious injuries during these appalling scenes as various objects, including bricks, rained down on them from all angles.
ACC White further emphasized the severity of Allington-Mott’s actions, noting, “Allington-Mott played a leading role in the violent disorder, and it’s only right that he has now received one of the longest prison terms issued by the courts so far following the disorder in Merseyside.
Despite the incident occurring approximately three weeks ago, law enforcement continues to make arrests in connection with the disorder. The police are urging the public to come forward with any information about individuals who participated in the unrest in Southport or Liverpool.
