Newport Man Jailed for Brutal Southport Riot
A 34-year-old man from Newport has been locked up for over three years for his role in a violent riot in Southport. Rory Allington-Mott, from High Street, pled guilty at Liverpool Crown Court on August 23, receiving a hefty 3 years and 3 months behind bars.
Shocking Violence Caught on Camera
The chaos unfolded on July 30, when Allington-Mott was spotted on footage hurling bricks and other objects at police officers. Authorities described the scenes as “appalling” with officers facing a barrage of missiles, some sustaining serious injuries.
Assistant Chief Constable Paul White said: “The footage is shocking and shows the extreme violence that our officers faced in Southport. Allington-Mott played a leading role in the violent disorder, and it’s right he’s received one of the longest prison sentences handed down so far after this Merseyside unrest.”
Police Still Hunting Rioters
Despite the arrest, police are continuing their crackdown weeks after the incident. Authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with info on those involved in the Southport and Liverpool disturbances to come forward.
