Truck Driver Pleads Guilty After High-Speed Police Chase in Faversham

A man has pleaded guilty to a string of traffic offences after a dramatic police pursuit in Faversham on Monday, 23 September 2024.

Chase Ends in Crash and Arrest

The drama unfolded at 10:15am when a Kent Police motorcyclist signalled for a flatbed truck to stop on the A2 London Road. The driver, however, ignored the signal and sped off, sparking a police chase.

During the pursuit, the truck reversed into two police vehicles, causing damage and injuring an officer with cuts and bruises. The abandoned truck was later found on Athelstan Road just over an hour later, with driver Frazer Higgins caught nearby and arrested on the scene.

Serious Charges for Frazer Higgins

  • Two counts of dangerous driving
  • Two counts of driving while disqualified
  • Two counts of no insurance
  • Fraudulent use of a registration plate

31-year-old Higgins, from Canterbury Road, Margate, faced these charges on Tuesday, 1 October. He pleaded guilty to all offences at Medway Magistrates’ Court the next day and was remanded for sentencing at Maidstone Crown Court.

Police Praise Local Support

“I would like to thank the members of the public who responded to our appeal for information following this incident. The response from Faversham residents was outstanding and proved crucial to our investigation,” said Detective Inspector Martin Davies.

The court sentencing will now determine Higgins’ punishment for the reckless run, which endangered both police officers and the public.
