Drunk Climber Hits New Heights on Kings West Building

Last night, a man was seen climbing the temporarily closed Kings West building on Kings Road, Brighton, sparking a rapid response from Sussex Police and the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS). The individual reportedly bypassed security fencing around the building and scaled the scaffolding before ascending a large wooden sign on the building’s side, where he remained perched until emergency services arrived.

The climber who was drunk, believed to be an experienced free climber, was safely brought down with no injuries. Police detained the man shortly afterwards, and investigations are underway regarding the motivations behind the climb.

Sussex Police have been contacted for comment, though no official statement has been issued at this time.

Witnesses captured footage of the incident, showing the man’s ascent and the swift response from emergency teams. Sussex News will continue to follow the story as updates become available.
