Man Jailed for 14 Years After Stabbing Partner in the Eye

A man who stabbed his partner in the eye during a violent and frenzied attack has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Peter Krok, 21, carried out the unprovoked assault on Neil Swain at a property in Normanton in December last year.

The court heard that Krok launched the attack without warning, slashing and stabbing Mr Swain’s face multiple times. The first blow punctured Mr Swain’s eyeball, leaving him with life-altering injuries.

During the assault, Krok also struck his victim with an ashtray before fleeing the scene. Emergency services were called, and Mr Swain was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Prosecutors described the attack as “savage and unprovoked,” emphasizing the lasting physical and emotional trauma caused to the victim.

Krok was arrested shortly after the incident and later charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

During sentencing at court, the judge condemned Krok’s actions, stating:
“This was a brutal and unprovoked attack on a partner who trusted you. The level of violence used shows a total disregard for human life and safety. Your sentence reflects the severity of this crime.”

Mr Swain continues to recover from his injuries, which have had a profound impact on his life.

Detective Inspector Sarah Coleman, who led the investigation, said:
“This was an appalling act of violence. Peter Krok’s actions have left a man with permanent injuries and caused immense suffering. I hope this sentence provides some comfort to the victim and sends a clear message that such acts of violence will not be tolerated.”

Krok will serve 14 years in prison, with an extended period on license following his release.
