Eye-Gouging Attack Lands Man 14 Years Behind Bars
A brutal knife rampage has landed 21-year-old Peter Krok in jail for 14 years after he stabbed his partner in the eye during a savage attack in Normanton last December.
Unprovoked Assault Leaves Victim Severely Injured
Krok launched a ferocious, unprovoked assault on victim Neil Swain at a home in Normanton. The court heard how Krok repeatedly slashed and stabbed Mr. Swain’s face, with the first strike puncturing his eyeball and causing life-changing injuries.
The attacker didn’t stop there—he also battered Mr. Swain with an ashtray before fleeing. Emergency services rushed the victim to hospital for urgent treatment.
Judge Slams ‘Brutal’ Attack, Sentences Krok to 14 Years
“This was a brutal and unprovoked attack on a partner who trusted you. The level of violence used shows a total disregard for human life and safety. Your sentence reflects the severity of this crime,” the judge told Krok during sentencing.
Krok was arrested soon after and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. He now faces an extended period on licence after his prison term.
Detective Condemns Attack, Hopes Sentence Sends Strong Message
“This was an appalling act of violence. Peter Krok’s actions have left a man with permanent injuries and caused immense suffering. I hope this sentence provides some comfort to the victim and sends a clear message that such acts of violence will not be tolerated,” said Detective Inspector Sarah Coleman, who led the investigation.
Neil Swain continues to recover from his horrific injuries, which have profoundly affected his life.
