A 34-year-old man Leon Bowes has been convicted of 25 serious offences against three women, marking the end of a complex investigation spanning over 16 years of abuse.

The verdict, delivered on Monday, November 18, includes multiple counts of rape, actual bodily harm (ABH), and controlling behaviour. Bowes, a resident of Biddle Road, Littlethorpe, Leicester, was found guilty following a six-week trial at Leicester Crown Court.

Key Convictions

– 10 counts of rape

– 8 counts of actual bodily harm

– 2 counts of coercive behaviour

– 2 counts of assault by penetration

– Multiple other serious offences

The investigation began in July 2023 when one survivor came forward, leading police to uncover additional victims. The earliest offences date back to 2008, when one victim was just 14 years old.

“The courage and strength these women have shown is truly commendable,” said Sergeant Lorraine Hendrie, the lead investigator. “Without their determination, this man would still be in our community.”

Detective Superintendent Chris Baker, force lead for violence against women and girls, stressed the importance of this case: “This conviction sends a clear message about our commitment to pursuing predators and supporting survivors.”

Sentencing is scheduled for January 24, 2025. Police believe there may be additional survivors and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
