Tragedy Strikes on Woodthorpe Road
A woman in her 20s was found dead, and a two-year-old girl seriously hurt in a harrowing incident in Ashford, Surrey. It happened on Thursday, January 16, when police were called to an address on Woodthorpe Road at 1:15pm after reports raised safety alarms.
Officers arrived to discover both victims with severe injuries. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, the young woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The toddler was rushed to hospital and remains in critical condition.
Man Arrested Over Murder and Attempted Murder
A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Police confirmed the suspect and the victims were known to each other.
Surrey Police reassured the public that there is no wider risk to the Ashford community as investigations continue.

“A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a woman in Ashford on Thursday, January 16. Officers were called to an address on Woodthorpe Road at 1:15pm following a report of a concern for safety.
A woman in her 20s and a two-year-old girl were found with very serious injuries. Sadly, despite the best efforts of officers and paramedics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The child has been taken to hospital for treatment.
A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. The victims and suspect were known to each other. There is not believed to be any wider risk to the community. An investigation, led by the Surrey and Sussex Police Major Crime Team, is underway and enquiries remain ongoing.”
