Arrest Made Following Spate of Car Thefts in Folkestone

A man has been arrested in connection with a series of thefts from vehicles in Folkestone, Kent Police has confirmed.

The Investigation

Officers were patrolling the Hill Road area in response to reports of multiple thefts from cars. The incidents occurred between 9 and 14 January 2025, with affected locations including Brabner Close, Montgomery Way, Radnor Park Crescent, and Watkin Road. Investigators are also examining whether a theft reported on 25 October 2024 is linked to the recent spate of incidents.

Arrest and Search

Shortly after midnight on Thursday, 16 January 2025, officers on patrol became suspicious of a man in the area. This led to an arrest and a subsequent search of a property.

During the search, police recovered a variety of items believed to have been stolen, including:

  • Bank cards
  • Clothing
  • Electronic goods
  • Power tools

Suspect Detained

A 38-year-old man from Canterbury was arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody. He has since been bailed while enquiries continue.

Appeal for Information

Officers are now working to identify the owners of the recovered property. They are urging anyone who believes they may have had items stolen from their vehicle in Folkestone during January 2025 to contact Kent Police, if they have not already done so.

Anyone with information or concerns can report it via the Kent Police website or call 101, quoting the relevant reference number.

This development highlights the importance of reporting suspicious activity and thefts promptly to aid police investigations and ensure justice is served.
