Chaos on A3 as Serious Crash Closes Road Near Portsmouth

The A3 is shut both ways near Portsmouth after a major crash involving a heavy goods vehicle. The smash happened just before noon on Tuesday, April 20, close to junction two (Hulbert Avenue) in Havant.

Emergency Crews Race to Rescue Trapped Driver

Firefighters and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance’s flying doctors are battling to free a driver trapped in the wreckage. The air ambulance even touched down on the Londonbound carriageway to speed up the rescue.

Fire crews from Waterlooville, Havant, and Cosham are on scene with specialist cutting gear. A HART team from South Central Ambulance Service is also assisting in the complex rescue operation.

Injury Details Unknown as Investigation Underway

The condition of those involved remains unclear. Police and Highways England have closed the road in both directions while emergency services continue their work.
