Teacher Jailed for Sex with 14-Year-Old and Relentless Harassment
Fatinah Hossain, 25, from Dutchells Copse, Horsham, has been locked up for over five years after admitting a shocking sex abuse and harassment spree. The former study supervisor and cover teacher pleaded guilty at Brighton Crown Court on 21 October to having sex with a 14-year-old boy under her care and perverting the course of justice.
Five Years Behind Bars and Long-Term Restrictions
Judge Gold sentenced Hossain to five years and four months in prison. She will be registered as a sex offender for life and slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting 10 years after her release. On top of that, she faces an indefinite restraining order banning any contact with her victim, his family, and others, along with exclusion from specific Horsham areas.
‘Relentless, Malicious’ Campaign of Harassment
His Honour Judge Gold said Hossain had “embarked on quite a remarkable campaign of harassment” that was “relentless, wide-ranging and malicious” following the “persistent nature of penetrative sexual activity over time.”
The CPS prosecution came after a West Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit probe. Detective Constable Leigh Rankin revealed shocking details:
- Hossain began grooming the boy at a Horsham school where she worked.
- The sexual relationship dragged on for months, during which she manipulated the boy emotionally, at one point falsely claiming she was pregnant when he tried to end things.
- After her arrest in June 2020, she launched a vicious campaign against the victim’s family and friends.
Fake Accounts, Threats and Lies to Derail Justice
Hossain created multiple fake social media profiles, including one posing as a 14-year-old girl, to intimidate other children and threaten harm if they spoke out. She even tried to pay the victim to drop charges.
Her scheme included fabricating messages to frame a family member of the boy, aiming to get him sacked and arrested. She flooded the police with false reports in a bid to derail the investigation.
All fabrications were uncovered by March 2021, leading to additional charges and her remand until conviction.
Detective Rankin said: “This was a prolonged and distressing campaign. We are glad justice has now been done for the boy and others caught in Hossain’s web of lies and manipulation.”
