Brutal Rusthall Assault: Man Hospitalised with Serious Head Injuries
Detectives have launched a fresh appeal following a savage attack near Tunbridge Wells that left a man fighting for his life. The victim, discovered injured and confused on a Rusthall footpath last month, remains in hospital as police hunt the culprit.
Attack in Woodland Near Cricket Pitch
The assault took place on the evening of Thursday, January 23, 2025, in the woodland off Rusthall Road, close to the cricket pitch. The victim, a man in his 20s, had been walking from Sunnyside Road when he was set upon between 7:30 PM and 7:40 PM.
He suffered multiple deep cuts to the head and a severe brain bleed. Unable to recall what happened, he was found disorientated by a passerby who instantly dialled emergency services.
Police Plead for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
Detective Inspector Adrian Safiani said the victim is slowly recovering but cannot yet describe the assault.
“This was a violent and unprovoked attack on a man simply taking a walk along a route he knew well,” DI Safiani said.
“Given the severity, the attacker likely went home covered in blood — on their hands, clothes, or shoes. If you suspect someone, please do the right thing and contact us.”
Police have scoured CCTV from nearby homes and businesses. Now, they urge residents to check private security and doorbell cameras, especially between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM on that day.
Anyone who saw suspicious activity or someone walking in the area at the time is urged to come forward.
