A cyclist is fighting for his life following a devastating hit-and-run incident on Clapham Road, SW9, on Tuesday evening.
Police were called to the scene at 21:44hrs on February 18 after reports of a serious collision between a car and a cyclist. Officers arrived alongside the London Ambulance Service, where they found the 38-year-old cyclist critically injured.
Paramedics provided immediate medical attention before transporting the man to a nearby hospital. He remains hospitalized with what are believed to be life-changing injuries.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene. So far, no arrests have been made, and police continue to investigate the incident.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said, “This was a serious collision that has left a man with devastating injuries. We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision to come forward.”
Clapham Road was briefly closed while emergency services attended the scene, causing significant traffic delays.
Residents and cyclists in the area have expressed shock and concern over the incident, with many calling for improved safety measures along the busy stretch of road.
