Blaze Breaks Out in Maidstone Shed
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) rushed to a shed fire on Sutton Road, Langley, Maidstone, on Sunday evening, February 23, 2025. The alarm was raised at 7:05pm, sending two fire engines screeching to the scene.
Tumble Dryer Sparks Fiery Chaos
Firefighters found a tumble dryer ablaze inside the outbuilding, with flames already licking at a nearby washing machine. Using a high-pressure hose reel jet, the crews quickly doused the flames and safely removed the scorched appliances.
The fire was fully under control by 7:50pm. Miraculously, no one was hurt.
Cutting-Edge Gear Used to Snuff Fire
Crews deployed thermal imaging cameras to hunt for lingering hotspots and used small access tools to tackle tricky spots during the blaze.
The cause remains a mystery as investigations continue.
KFRS Warns: Check Your Smoke Alarms and Stay Vigilant
A KFRS spokesperson reminded the public, “Fires can happen when you least expect them. Ensuring your smoke alarms are working could make all the difference in an emergency.”
The service also urged homeowners not to leave appliances like tumble dryers and washing machines running unattended, especially overnight, to slash the risk of fires.
