Emergency Crews Rush to Scene Near Petrol Station
Firefighters were called at 3:12pm following reports of a vehicle alight near the junction with Grove Vale, just yards from a Shell petrol station.
The London Fire Brigade sent one fire engine, which managed to bring the inferno under control by 4:04pm. Despite their efforts, the van was a total write-off.
Flames and Thick Smoke Draw Crowds
Video footage from shortly after 3:20pm shows intense flames bursting from the van’s roof, with thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Passersby and commuters at a nearby bus stop were drawn to the dramatic scene as the fire raged near the road entrance.
No Injuries, Cause Under Investigation
“Firefighters were called to a van alight on Ondine Road. The vehicle was completely destroyed by fire. One fire engine attended, and the fire was under control by 4.04pm,” confirmed a London Fire Brigade spokesperson.
Thankfully, no one was hurt. While the proximity to the petrol station raised safety concerns, there was no risk of the fire spreading. Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze.
