Firefighters were scrambled to a garden fire on Struttons Avenue, Gravesend, on Saturday evening. The alert came through at 6.09pm, prompting Kent Fire and Rescue Service to dispatch two fire engines immediately.

Crews suited up in breathing apparatus and tackled the flames with high-pressure hose reel jets. The fire, which had jumped from the garden into parts of the kitchen, was quickly brought under control using positive pressure ventilation fans to clear the thick smoke.

By 6.49pm, the blaze was contained. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident. The fire’s cause remains a mystery and is currently under investigation.
