A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in Kensington after being spotted riding a stolen moped, Kensington & Chelsea Police confirmed on social media today.
The incident occurred at around 2:55pm yesterday (April 15) when officers from the Central West Basic Command Unit (BCU) identified the teenager on the stolen vehicle. Upon being stopped, the suspect fled on foot but was quickly apprehended in Lower Addison Gardens.
Officers arrested the teenager on suspicion of theft of the moped, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Images from the arrest, now circulating on social media, show police detaining the suspect on the pavement. A caption overlaying the footage reads, “Boydem did him dirty,” reflecting the slang used by some local youth in reference to law enforcement.
Police have not disclosed further details about the suspect’s identity due to his age but confirmed he remains in custody while investigations continue.
Residents in the area have been urged to report any suspicious activity and assist with ongoing efforts to tackle street-level crime and vehicle thefts.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Metropolitan Police via 101 or report anonymously to Crimestoppers.
