Study Supervisor Jailed for Sex with 14-Year-Old Boy
Fatinah Hossain, 25, from Horsham, was sentenced to five years and four months at Brighton Crown Court on Thursday 21 October. She admitted to perverting the course of justice and engaging in sexual activity with a boy while in a position of trust.
Relentless Campaign of Harassment After Exposure
Judge Gold slammed Hossain for her “remarkable campaign of harassment” described as “relentless, wide-ranging and malicious.” This came after her persistent sexual relationship with the boy over several months. Following her arrest in June 2020, Hossain used fake social media accounts to threaten and manipulate the victim’s family and friends in a bid to derail the investigation.
Manipulative Web of Lies and Threats
- Hossain groomed a 14-year-old boy while working as a study supervisor at a Horsham school.
- She claimed to be pregnant when the boy tried to end the relationship.
- Using fake profiles, she threatened other children and offered the boy money to drop charges.
- She impersonated a 14-year-old girl to fabricate messages aimed at ruining a family member’s job.
- Repeated false police reports were made to target the victim’s family.
Justice Served After Prolonged Investigation
The West Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit uncovered the truth behind Hossain’s elaborate lies. Detective Constable Leigh Rankin said:
“This was a prolonged and distressing campaign and we are glad that justice has now been done for the boy and the several other people who became entrapped in Hossain’s web of lies and manipulation.”
Hossain will remain a Registered Sex Offender indefinitely and face a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years after release. She is also banned indefinitely from contacting the victim or entering specified areas of Horsham.
