Serious Crash Shuts Down Bermondsey Morning Commute
Emergency services scrambled to Southwark Park Road near Balaclava Road, Bermondsey, just before 6am this Friday (June 20) following a serious road traffic collision.
Two Injured, One Rushed to Major Trauma Centre
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed two people were involved. Both were treated at the scene by specialist teams. One victim was then rushed to a major trauma centre. Their condition remains unknown.
Massive Emergency Response on Scene
A LAS spokesperson revealed an impressive deployment of resources including:
- Two ambulances
- A paramedic in a rapid response car
- An incident response officer from the Hazardous Area Response Team
- A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance, arriving by car
“We were called at 5.59am today to reports of a road traffic collision in Southwark Park Road, Bermondsey. We treated two patients and took one to a major trauma centre,” said the LAS spokesperson.
Road Closures and Police Statement Pending
The Metropolitan Police have yet to release details about the crash. Meanwhile, Southwark Park Road was partially closed during rush hour, causing delays across the SE16 area.
