Serial Burglar Convicted in Brighton After Multi-Site Crime Spree

A man has been convicted for a calculated burglary spree across multiple homes in Hollingbury Rise, Brighton, following an exhaustive investigation by the local Burglary Team.

On 14 July, police allege that 33-year-old Oliver Pierce, of Brentwood Road, forced his way into two residences and attempted a third break-in in the Hollingbury Rise area. Just days later, on 17 July, officers executed a warrant at his home and found Pierce in possession of Class B drugs—namely cannabis and ketamine.

Pierce was swiftly arrested and charged with multiple offences. Displaying contrition, he entered guilty pleas at Lewes Crown Court on Friday, 15 August.

Following his guilty plea, Pierce was remanded in custody. His sentencing hearing is set to take place at Lewes Crown Court on 3 September.

The case underscores the effectiveness of the Brighton and Hove Burglary Team, whose prompt and thorough response led directly to Pierce’s apprehension and charge. The swift justice process also reflects cooperation with local communities and their invaluable tips—for instance, providing information that helped link him to the crimes.

This case highlights the speed of the burglary team’s work—arresting Pierce within days of the offences—and the securing of evidence both for the break-ins and drug possession. It also shows how compound charges reflect the multifaceted nature of some criminal behaviours and the layers investigators must unravel. With sentencing scheduled for early September, the justice system continues to prioritize public safety and hold offenders accountable.
