Tragic Purley Stabbing Victim Named as 19-Year-Old Kye Manning
Police have identified the victim of the fatal Croydon stabbing as 19-year-old Kye Manning. The brutal attack unfolded on Brighton Road, Purley, on Thursday, 11 July.
Knife Attack on Brighton Road Ends in Death
Officers, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance rushed to the scene at about 9.10pm after reports of a male being stabbed. Despite urgent medical attention, Kye died at the scene at 9.50pm.
A post-mortem the next day confirmed Kye died from a single stab wound to the heart. Formal identification has now been completed.
Five Arrested Amid Intense Murder Investigation
- An 18-year-old man found nearby with stab wounds is now stable in hospital and arrested on suspicion of murder.
- A 20-year-old man with slash wounds close to Purley Railway Station was also taken to hospital and arrested on suspicion of murder.
- A 17-year-old boy arrested near the scene is in custody on suspicion of murder.
- Another 18-year-old man is held on suspicion of attempted murder.
- A 15-year-old boy, also arrested near the scene, has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Detectives Urge Public to Come Forward
“This is a terrible incident which has resulted in a young man’s life being tragically cut short,” said Detective Chief Inspector John Massey, leading the investigation.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time. We’ve made several arrests but need the community’s help to piece together what happened and bring those responsible to justice.”
