Kent Police and Highways England have shut all four lanes of the M20 London-bound between junctions three and two after a collision involving two HGVs early Sunday morning. The smash happened just after 4am in thick fog, sparking a major recovery operation on the busy smart motorway stretch.

Drivers diverted onto M26 as chaos unfolds

Motorists are currently being diverted via the M26 while crews work to clear the wreckage and debris scattered across the carriageway. Two heavy-duty recovery trucks have been brought in to tackle the clear-up. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.

Police yet to comment on incident

Kent Police have been approached for a statement. In the meantime, drivers are urged to avoid the area and expect delays while recovery continues.
