North Kent Specials Clock Up Nearly 33,000 Hours Keeping Communities Safe
Kent’s Special Constabulary team smashed records in 2021, racking up a massive 32,951 hours of volunteer police work. The 100-strong squad from north Kent boosted regular officers by patrolling streets, responding to public calls, and cracking down on crime.
Volunteers from All Walks of Life Step Up
These volunteers juggle policing with day jobs as diverse as professional wrestlers and investment bankers. Despite this, they still found time for road safety campaigns, community engagement, emergency responses, and taking charge of key criminal investigations.
High Praise from Kent’s Top Brass
“This exceptional team is made up of volunteers, who give up their own time to look after our communities and keep Kent safe,” said Chief Superintendent Neil Loudon, Divisional Commander for north Kent.
“Policing during 2021 was incredibly challenging. We depended more than ever on the Special Constabulary. Their quality of work is top-notch, helping us maintain a first-class service through the pandemic and beyond.”
“I am overwhelmed daily by the professionalism and dedication of our Specials,” added Special Co-ordinator PC Sarah Wyatt. “Their support is crucial, and I’m very proud to stand behind them all.”
How to Join the Ranks of Kent’s Special Constables
