Emergency crews rushed to Newcastle Street, Mansfield, shortly after 1.45am on 17 October 2022, following reports of a fire at a derelict building. The unused property suffered significant damage in the blaze.

A joint investigation by Nottinghamshire Police and the fire service has concluded the fire was likely started deliberately. Officers are on the hunt for those responsible, treating the incident as a serious act of arson.

Police Release Image – Seeking Public’s Help

Police have released an image of a woman they believe may have crucial information about the fire. PC Abigail 1 urged the public to come forward:

“We have reasons to believe this fire was started on purpose, so we are determined to find whoever was responsible.

Arson is an incredibly serious and dangerous offence, which can ruin or even end the lives of anyone unfortunate to be caught up in it.

We believe the woman in this picture could have valuable information about what happened, so we would naturally like to speak to her as soon as possible.”
