Chaos on A28 After HGV Jackknifes at Dawn
Early Tuesday at 6:30am, the A28 ground to a halt after a heavy goods vehicle jackknifed, blocking both directions. The trailer’s load must be cleared before recovery can begin, adding to delays.
Major Traffic Disruption and Diversions
The incident has forced a full closure of the A28. Drivers face lengthy detours via Ashford Road, High Halden, and through Biddenden, before rejoining the route at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone and heading back to Ashford via the A20.
The official diversion route is:
- A28 Ashford Road
- High Halden
- A262 through Biddenden
- A274/A229 into Maidstone
- A20 back to Ashford via Bethersden and High Halden
Recovery crews are on site, but the removal process is slow because of the heavy load on the trailer.
