Man Found Dead at Park Plaza Hotel Sparks Chemical Scare

A man’s sudden death at the Park Plaza Hotel on Western Avenue, W3, triggered a full-blown chemical alert on Saturday. Six police officers who came into contact with a suspicious substance at the scene were rushed for medical checks.

Police Called Amid Chemical Fears

Officers arrived at 12:34pm on May 11, 2024, after the body was discovered in a hotel room. While the death is being treated as unexpected, it is not believed to be suspicious. The victim’s identity is known, and next of kin are being informed.

Tensions rose when an item found in the room raised fears of chemical exposure. Several officers nearby were immediately evaluated by the London Ambulance Service as a precaution. Thankfully, all were confirmed to be in good health following the assessment.

Investigation Underway as Hotel Remains Open

Police are now investigating the exact nature of the substance and its potential risks. Despite the scare, the hotel is still open to guests but under increased police scrutiny. Authorities are working diligently to get to the bottom of the incident.

Met Police Statement

“Police were called at 12:34hrs to a hotel in Western Avenue W3 after a man was found deceased,” a Met Police spokesperson said.

“The death is being treated as unexpected but is not thought to be suspicious. Police know who the deceased is and are working to inform next of kin.”

“An item found in the room led to some officers being checked over by LAS as a precaution. They were all found to be fit and well.”
