Tragedy hit Ramsgate today as emergency crews hauled a man’s body from the inner marina. The victim, believed to be in his 60s, was spotted floating near Military Road, sparking a swift rescue response.
RNLI and Police Rush to Marina After Body Found
The Ramsgate RNLI lifeboat was launched just after 10am following a call from the Harbour Office, who spotted the lifeless body in the water.
Kent Police arrived at 10:04am to support the grim recovery operation.
Man Identified – Death Not Suspicious
By 3pm, police confirmed the man had been recovered and his next of kin informed.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” said a Kent Police spokesperson.
RNLI Stand Down Search for Second Person
The RNLI initially searched for a second possible victim but called off the operation after finding no further signs.
