A tragic death has been confirmed after a person was struck on the tracks between East Croydon and New Cross Gate around 8.45pm on Monday, February 23.
Emergency Crews Rush to Norwood Junction
British Transport Police and London Ambulance Service scrambled to Norwood Junction station after reports of a casualty on the tracks. Despite their desperate efforts, the individual was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
No Suspicion, Coroner to Investigate
Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious. A full file will be prepared for the coroner to establish the exact cause of death.
Rail Disruption Cleared – Services Back to Normal
- Lines between East Croydon and New Cross Gate were shut during the emergency response.
- All rail services have now resumed as usual.
British Transport Police spokesperson: “Officers were called at around 8.45pm on Monday 23 February to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Norwood Junction railway station. Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
