A 25-year-old man has been arrested for the attempted rape of a woman in her 70s in Sheffield. The shocking attack took place in Concord Park, Shiregreen, early Wednesday morning.
Brutal Assault in Concord Park
Police were called at 7:26am on 25 March after reports of a man assaulting and trying to rape the elderly woman as she walked through the park. The victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but thankfully, her condition is not life-threatening or life-changing.
Police Ramp Up Patrols, Appeal for Witnesses
South Yorkshire Police have increased patrols in the area following the incident. The suspect remains in custody while investigations continue.
Sheffield North East Inspector Alec Gibbons urged the community to stay vigilant:
“The victim is receiving support from officers and trained medical professionals, and we have put extra patrols in place in the local area. We understand that news of this incident will cause concern in the local community and I would urge anyone with questions or concerns to please speak to our officers on the ground – they are there to help you and keep you safe.”
