Police were called just before 7pm on Tuesday, April 14, after a devastating crash involving a pedestrian and a car between Sanford Street and Knoyle Street.
Young Woman Dies at Scene
The victim, a woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Driver Flees – Police Make Arrests
The driver failed to stop and initially fled the scene. But on April 15, a woman in her 50s and two men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. All remain in police custody as inquiries continue.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
“Our thoughts remain with the young woman’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time,” said Detective Inspector Glen Mera of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit. “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.”
