Child Dies After Dog Attack on Bidston Avenue

Police were called just before 4pm on Tuesday following a horrifying dog attack at a home on Bidston Avenue, Blackbrook. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but sadly, the young girl was rushed to hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Dog Destroyed, Breed Under Investigation

The dog involved was handed to police and put down humanely. Authorities are conducting forensic tests to confirm the breed and to check if it falls under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. Officers are still on site conducting CCTV checks, witness interviews, and door-to-door inquiries as they piece together what happened.

Family Devastated, Police Appeal for Witnesses

“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the child’s family at this devastating time,” said Detective Inspector Lisa Milligan. “The girl’s parents and wider family are absolutely devastated, and our Family Liaison Officers are supporting them through this horrendous ordeal.”

“The dog was only bought by the family a week ago. We are working hard to trace its previous owners and establish its history.”

“Our officers will remain in the area to reassure the community. If you were nearby and saw anything, please come forward.”
