Man Arrested for Terrorism Offence in South London

31-Year-Old Bailed After Terrorism Arrest

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of encouraging terrorism under section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006. He was taken into custody by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command in south London.

Quick Police Action

The arrest happened at 12:25pm on Wednesday 17 June under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act. He was held at a south London police station but released on bail at 11.59pm the same day.

Searches and Ongoing Enquiries

Police have since carried out searches at a south London address linked to the man. Enquiries into the case are continuing, with the suspect due to return to police in mid-July.
