Tragic Fall in West London: Worker Dies After Plummeting from Scaffolding

Emergency Chaos on Queens Park Building Site

Just after 1pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, emergency services were scrambled to Queens Park, West London. A man fell roughly 20 metres while working on scaffolding at a property on Fifth Avenue, West Kilburn.

High-Tech Rescue Efforts Fail

The London Fire Brigade deployed a specialist rope rescue line team and a towering 32-metre turntable ladder to reach the injured man. London’s elite Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) from the London Ambulance Service also rushed to the scene, alongside paramedics and the Air Ambulance. Despite their rapid and professional intervention, the worker tragically died on site.

Investigation Underway

The Met Police have launched a full investigation into the fatal incident, supported by the Health and Safety Executive and the coroner’s office. A large cordon remains in place around the scene as officers gather evidence and piece together what went wrong.

Official Statement from London Ambulance Service

“We were called at 12.22pm on January 24 to reports of an incident on Fifth Avenue, West Kilburn. We dispatched ambulance crews, medics in fast response cars, an incident response officer, and our HART team, alongside London’s Air Ambulance. Sadly, despite the best efforts of our medics, the man died at the scene,” confirmed a London Ambulance spokesperson.

The man’s family has been informed, and the Health and Safety Executive has been notified as part of ongoing safety checks.
