Over 1,000 Arrests and £1 Million in Class A Drugs Seized in Record-Breaking Police Crackdown
A massive week-long police operation targeting drug networks has been slammed as the most successful yet. Across the UK, officers made more than 1,000 arrests and confiscated Class A drugs worth a staggering £1 million.
Surrey’s Big Haul: Crack Cocaine, Heroin and Cash Seized
Surrey Police played a key role in the national crackdown, making 27 arrests linked to County Lines and organised crime gangs. Their haul included:
- Over £10,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin
- Unquantified amounts of cannabis
- Nearly £21,000 in cash
- Designer trainers and clothing valued at around £25,000
- 37 mobile phones and two weapons
County Lines Plaguing Communities with Violence and Exploitation
Surrey Police say tackling County Lines is a top priority nationally, as these criminal drug networks wreak havoc on communities. They cause a spike in violence, exploitation, anti-social behaviour, and theft.
“The impact of these drugs networks is devastating,” a spokesperson said. “Our coordinated efforts identify offenders, cut violence, seize crime proceeds, and protect vulnerable people.”
Public Urged to Help Spot County Lines Activity
The force is appealing to locals to stay vigilant. Keep an eye out for signs such as:
- Frequent visitors who don’t stay long, arriving day and night
- People exchanging small packets or cash from cars outside properties
- Visitors bringing bulky items like TVs or bikes but leaving empty-handed
- Groups suddenly moving in with lone or vulnerable neighbours
Surrey Police warned: “While this operation has seriously rattled County Lines gangs, the fight continues. Help us shut these networks down for good by reporting suspicious activity.”
