Woman Attacked Outside Devizes Shops – Police Hunt Witnesses

Police are on the hunt for witnesses after a woman in her 50s was punched in the face and knocked to the ground in Devizes.

The shocking assault happened at around 11.30am last Friday (April 16) in The Brittox shopping area. The victim had just left a shop when a younger woman suddenly attacked her, causing her to fall and hit her head.

Not a Random Attack, Say Cops

PC Jamie Collings of the Devizes Area Community Policing Team revealed: “The victim has been left upset and shaken by what happened to her. We don’t believe this was a random assault, but we do need to speak to independent witnesses who saw what happened.”

He added that several passers-by stopped to help at the busy shopping spot. Police also believe a man recorded part of the attack on his phone.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Officers are especially keen to speak to the man who filmed the incident. Anyone with info should contact PC Collings on 101, quoting crime reference 54210035495. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
